Bunker - FULL recovery and adopted in Oregon!

March 1, 2007 (from NCBR): Just spoke with Dr Daily. She is absolutely amazed Bunker is still alive. He did make it through surgery but will have a tough next few days. Dr Daily pulled a 7-8 pound "something" out of his stomach. Her best guess is that it's a calcified piece of cloth that has most likely been there for at least 2 weeks - that alone speaks volumes about this boy's willingness to fight and LIVE!

The surgery was very difficult and lengthy. The incision was very large, but because the mass was as hard as a brick it was very diffiscult to remove. Bunker weighed in at 27 pounds prior to syrgery. He is now 20 pounds. Please keep the prayers and donations coming.

UPDATE: Bunker is recovering well from the surgery this evening. He was able to pee and poop on his own, although he is still much to weak to walk. After further probing, Dr Daily believes the mass she removed to be a Nurf Football (I think I will change his name to "Romo"). Dr. Daily has made many comments about this little boy's spirit. She says he has an AMAZING spirit and will to live. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. PLEASE keep this coming as he is no where near out o the woods yet. He will have to remain hospitalized until at least sometime next week.

Thanks to everyone who has donated towards Bunker's care. His bill thus far is $1,500.00. We GREATLY appreciate the donations as they enable us to continue to care for boxers like Bunker!!

I will post all future updates ot the website so keep an eye out for news and updated photo's.

Angie

Angie
Angie

Angie was mauled by a female pit bull living in her home. She has sustained serious injuries to her face, leg and other parts of her little body. Because of the terrible damage to the right front leg (multiple areas of muscle loss, skin loss and bone involvement), we have to amputate her leg. The leg is causing so much pain that we need to amputate as soon as she is medically stable. She will also require primary and secondary closure to the wounds on her face. Angie's care and surgery is going to cost approximately $1,500.00.

Angie is now lovingly referred to as "Fanny Mae" for obvious financial reasons.... She is experiencing difficulty healing from the facial injuries sustained by the dog attack. Lots of infection, serious vet bills accumulating from medications, etc. Her three-leggedness has not bothered her. According to her Foster Mom, Hannah Houston, she is the sweetest, most loving and obedient foster she has ever encountered.

Johnney - ADOPTED!

Johnney
Johnney

Johnney has been diagnosed with a ruptured cruciate ligament. This is a very common surgery and he is expected to make a full recovery. Johnney's surgery must be done by a specialist and therefore is very expensive ($2,500.00). The treatment to correct a torn cranial cruciate ligament is a surgery called a TPLO - Johnny has too steep an angle in his knee to allow the ligament to simply be repaired. NCBR needs to raise this amount before we can move forward with Johnney's surgery.

Margie - ADOPTED!

Gracie
Gracie (tumor clearly visible on her abdomen)

Gracie

Gracie is an older adult Boston Terrier. I met her at Wonder dog Rescue in San Francisco, intended to foster care her, and fell in LOVE.

She was found wandering around in the East Bay on the 4th of July, taken to the shelter, and no one claimed her. It's obvious she has needed medical care for a while.

Gracie has two tumors that need to be removed. One is unsightly, but probably fine, the other is a bit concerning.

Gracie is almost blind. She has cataracts that with the aid of a specialist could be corrected to give her back some of her sight.

She is an amazing dog. She has a spirit that is infectious. Please help us to help Gracie, she deserves to live her twilight years happily and in good health!

An account has been set up to receive donations for Gracie - contact me for more details. Thank you in advance for your help!

UPDATE:

Thanks to Everyone who has helped make this little girls' life better! Gracie had her surgery to remove two tumors. She is now resting comfortably on her fleece blankie on my bed (Mama Tally nearby!)

Gracie
Gracie (tumors have been removed)

Both tumors will be sent to pathology with another huge thanks to Dawn Ellsworth, Gracie's other Mom....

Dr. Basra of Rocklin Park Veterinary Hospital has been a tremendous help, extending us the credit necessary to have this surgery done sooner rather than later. Huge debt of gratitude to Dr. Basra and his staff! (Huge monetary debt too, que sera, sera)

Our hope is that the tumors will be benign and that will be that. We adore Grace, she is a small dog, but a giant entity in our hearts and home.

More pictures of Gracie, her diary etc, can be viewed on her own webpage on Dogster.

Keep a good thought for Gracie!!

For the Animals,
Kathi Myers

PS - Thank you to the Trask family for their kindness in supporting our rescue efforts for Gracie!
