About Me

I have always had an affinity for animals. Large, small, domestic and wild.

I am an Animal Rescuer

My job is to assist God's creatures
I was born with the need to fulfill their needs
I take in new family members without plan, thought or selection
I have bought dog food with my last dime
I have patted a mangy head with a bare hand
I have hugged someone vicious and afraid
I have fallen in love a thousand times

I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body
I have Animal Friends and friends who have animal friends
I don't often use the word "pet"
I notice those lost at the road side
And my heart aches
I will hand raise a field mouse
And make friends with a vulture
I know of no creature unworthy of my time
I want to live forever if there aren't animals in Heaven
But I believe there are
Why would God make something so perfect and leave it behind
We may be master of the animals,
But the animals have mastered themselves
Something people still haven't learned
War and Abuse makes me hurt for the world
But a rescue that makes the news gives me hope for mankind
We are a quiet but determined army
And making a difference every day
There is nothing more necessary than warming an orphan.
Nothing more rewarding than saving a life
No higher recognition than watching them thrive
There is no greater joy than seeing a baby play,
When only days ago, was too weak to eat
I am an Animal Rescuer
My work is never done,
My home is never quiet
My wallet is always empty
But my heart is always full
In the game of life, we have already won

Kathi's Krittersitter and K-9 Services has been serving El Dorado County since July 1, 2002. The name has changed slightly, mostly to differentiate my services from other "critter sitters" that have cropped up over the past few years. Don't be fooled by names that sound the same! Stick with me and together we will provide your loved ones with top-notch quality care. Loving care, when you can't be there.

I am licensed, insured and run my business by myself, with the added help of my husband and daughter. I do not hire employees. I do not "sub-contract" out. I operate with a very high level of skill and integrity. The care of your pets and livestock are my passion, focus and priority. I strive to maintain their normal routines and reduce their stress while you are away.

My education includes the Equine Management Program at Santa Rosa Junior College and more recently, the Canine Behavior Academy at the Marin Humane Society, where I completed both levels one and two, taught by Trish King, CDBC.

My experience includes veterinary assisting, dog trainer assisting and horse training facility manager. I've rehabilitated and re-homed countless dogs, horses and exotic birds over the last twenty years, helped families in determining the most appropriate pets for their individual lifestyles and needs and assisted owners in bettering their relationships with their pets through understanding, education and training. My goal is to keep pets with their families!

I volunteer my time with NorCal Boxer Rescue along with various other non-breed specific rescuers providing behavior evaluations, behavior modification and training recommendations, shelter to veterinarian transportation and home inspections for prospective adopters.

My family consists of my husband Jack, our daughter Kayla and my mom, Waneta. Between us we are blessed with 6 dogs (two Boxers, a pitbull, a Scotty, a Boston Terrier and a Miniature Pinscher). We also have 4 cats, 5 chickens, a Vietnamese Pot-bellied pig and an Arabian gelding named SunShai'n. We are lucky enough to share two homes on five acres here in El Dorado.
